Looks like it could be interesting. http://www.thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=419024 08:52 < PigBot> Dead Boy Detectives - TheTVDB.com (at www.thetvdb.com) https://tinyurl.com/24qu49al 10:30 <@Dolemite> Ugh. mr0ning, be0tches and h0ez. 10:31 < Evilpig> you're getting a late start 10:32 <@Dolemite> That's because we were at the ER from 1AM-6:30AM and I had to get some sleep. 10:34 < Evilpig> sleep is overrated 10:34 -!- opticron [~opticron@136.53.157.170] has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer] 10:35 < Evilpig> this clown talking about installing an agent on all systems to monitor them and said an advantage is it doesn't change the server, but it has to be installed so it is modifying hte system 10:36 <@Dolemite> Yes, I started to bring up the fact that it can't spy on the processes and network without running in privileged mode 10:39 -!- opticron [~opticron@136.53.157.170] has joined #se2600 10:39 -!- mode/#se2600 [+o opticron] by ChanServ 10:40 < Evilpig> I was also complaining about our backup folks. they sent us an email saying a host failed to backup the last two days and asked us to look into it. the service is running, the logs all look good, i see in there where it says it's checked in with the master. I respond to them asking for more details and point out the troubleshooting they sent was for windows and this is linux, the link to the documentation is broken. I asked how we can detect what is going on, if they'd like me to collect logs to open a ticket, etc 10:41 < Evilpig> all the usual stuff you shoudl do when a problem comes up if you intend to set up actual monitoring to detect an issue and hopefully address it before they notice kinda stuff. and got nothing back from them 10:44 < Evilpig> Dolemite: are you watching this right now? he's touting this software's ability to mirror attack 10:44 <@Dolemite> Evilpig: If Dynatrace has this much detail, I'm concerned about the massive amount of storage needed 10:44 <@Dolemite> yes, I'm watching because he wants to install it on our Kubernetes nodes 10:45 < Evilpig> they made us install it on the ldap servers. we've objected up through paul 10:45 <@Dolemite> Every example he's showing is Windows 10:45 <@Dolemite> But for something that is truly high volume (none of the webapps servers are, because that's all internal .NET apps) 10:46 < Evilpig> this started with "this service won't modify the system" and has gone to "we'll integrate with ansible to do things" 10:46 <@Dolemite> I have to wonder how it will handle that high volume traffic without bogging things down 10:46 <@Dolemite> oh YAY automated incident creation for when they haven't tuned shit 10:49 < Evilpig> btw that monitoring site is still firewalled so you can't get to it 11:40 <@xray> I marvel (no pun intended) that an entire production team got paid, no matter how bad the movie is. Someone had to believe in the project enough to fund it. Someone got suck into an Apple (TM) reality distortion field and believed the hype, and now we see movies and ponder, "What were they thinking?", I don't believe thinking had anything to do 11:40 <@xray> with it. 13:16 < Evilpig> how did the velma series get a second season? that first one was god awful 14:52 <@Dolemite> yeah even Melanie hated it 15:15 <@Mirage> Took the honda to a differnt shop for alignment after dumbassery from the first one. This one, even though I told them when I dropped it off that the car was a work in progress and to just make it go down the road straight, still proceeded to try and upsell me to the tune of probably 12k worth of repairs if I tallied it all up. 15:20 <@Mirage> Needless to say this pissed me off instantly, so I had the wife run me up there to just get the car and find somewhere else that would do it and not play the 'normal' games. When I got up there I wound up talking with the shop manager and the general manager and expressing my extreme displeasure and telling them I wanted the keys and would take it somewhere else. 15:21 <@Mirage> They argued with me a bit, told me they couldn't guarantee the work, etc with stuff needing to be worked on (some of which had already been replaced). I told them I didn't care and that I just wanted it to go down the road, mostly in a straight line, and not chewing up the tires so that I can determine what else on the car needs work. 15:22 <@Mirage> They finally said they'd go ahead and do the alignment based on the discussion...then refused to charge me anything for it when they were done. 15:23 <@Mirage> The finaly outcome was favorable, but I'm still not overly impressed with them and doubt I'll ever go back for anything. --- Log closed Thu Apr 25 00:00:50 2024
