I was hoping to get lucky with this custody thing but looks like they did actually file and they may have had the hearing via skype like sabrina was told. one thing I know is for sure you can't sign stuff for the courts digitally so that is still slowing them up. 06:11 < Evilpig> ashley doesn't realize that her calendar is still shared to me and she put a new item on her calendar for today to send paperwork to the court 06:11 < Evilpig> no idea what the paperwork is, but I let my lawyer know 06:58 <@Dolemite> Fucking beavers 06:58 <@Dolemite> https://news.slashdot.org/story/24/01/11/238220/beaver-ponds-may-exacerbate-warming-in-arctic-scientists-say 06:58 < PigBot> Beaver Ponds May Exacerbate Warming In Arctic, Scientists Say - Slashdot (at news.slashdot.org) http://tinyurl.com/yu5kzhj4 07:51 <@Dolemite> Ugh. Freaking Cyber Jockeys. 07:52 <@Dolemite> Assign ticket for CVE related to GitLab. I respond back that our configuration is not vulnerable. Cyber comes back and says "our scans show you are still at a vulnerable version". 08:02 <@Dagmar> "Have you tried hiring qualified personnel?" 08:02 <@Dolemite> Apparently they've simply hired everybody with a pulse they could find. At our last all-hands meeting, the Cyber Ops Center folks had about as many people as all of ITSD had when I started. 08:03 <@Dagmar> THen that means they've got enough staff to be able to get rid of the people who just took a boot camp class 08:04 <@Dolemite> Once I supplied him with an artifact to add into the ticket to show that we're fine he relented 08:04 <@Dolemite> I get it. His job is to take input from a scanning system, assign a ticket, and make sure it gets looked at. 08:05 <@Dolemite> His job isn't to know every system out there, it's to be a pain in the ass to the people who do know specific systems 08:07 <@Dolemite> This was apparently dropped on his desk by the CISO since we've been compromised in the past 08:14 < Evilpig> it was just two weeks ago that same group came to us and said "there's a zero day exploit for , what do you plan to do about it?" 08:14 < Evilpig> couldn't tell us what the exploit was, if it was in the client or server, just had a version number that might be vulnerable and couldn't tell us any hosts either 08:15 <@Dolemite> Yeah, then there's this openssh one that there's no real clear guidance on from them. I had to just go in and disable the vulnerable algorithms. 08:15 < Evilpig> we have something for that 08:15 <@Dagmar> That's what I did here 08:16 < Evilpig> but at the same time they want us to mitigate all the iLO systems that we can't tune the ssh configs on 08:16 <@Dolemite> Evilpig: yeah, but you only deal with workstations 08:16 <@Dagmar> No more chacha & CBCs 08:16 <@Dagmar> Annoying, but not terribly complex 08:16 < Evilpig> we do a little in servers. if you want the configs i'm pushing for i'll give them to you 08:16 < Evilpig> I've gotten jim to agree to a one size fits all approach and not his typical piecemeal approach 08:17 <@Dolemite> yeah send them to me so that I can be consistent 08:17 < Evilpig> incoming 08:17 <@Dolemite> Yeah, I like standardization, unlike Jim 08:21 < Evilpig> he wants to tune every config for every OS. I made the simple argument of "we do one size fits all, here's the standard across the board. we publish it, conform or don't connect. done" 08:21 <@Dolemite> yassssss 08:27 < Evilpig> while i'm bitching, we need to get rid of this elastic beats crap 08:28 < Evilpig> it breaks auditd, it's not indexing syslog, it appears to only be keeping ~1 week of metrics. this is completely useless 08:32 <@Dagmar> But people took a cert class for it! 08:32 < Evilpig> we have to deploy so many agents onto systems, it's a joke 08:37 < Evilpig> 08:16 < Evilpig> we do a little in servers. if you want the configs i'm pushing 08:40 <@Dolemite> yeah I've already got them scanning code-test to make sure their scan shows clear before I put in a change for the production systems 08:57 < Evilpig> damn cat keeps walking across the touchpad and keyboard doing things. 09:34 <@Dolemite> Ugh. Women love to argue about the stupidest shit. We bought my MIL a new electronic door lock for her front door for Christmas, and I said that we could go down to her house between Christmas and NY to install it for her. Well, MIL was up here at our house until NYE, so I got the nag about how we haven't installed it yet. 09:35 <@Dolemite> I was sick the weekend of NYE and offered to go down last weekend but then Pamela said she'd try to install it when she's down there this weekend. OK, if I offer to do something and then you say you will do it, you don't get to nag me about not doing it. 09:57 < aestetix> Evilpig: did you see ware at phreaknic last year? 09:57 < aestetix> Wondering if he got bald and fat 09:57 < Evilpig> no 09:58 < aestetix> ok. and you are fat but not bald, right? 09:58 < aestetix> or did you lose your ginger snaps 09:58 < Evilpig> aestetix: witht he other shit going on in my life right now, I have zero bandwidth for your shenanigans 09:59 < aestetix> :( 10:01 < Evilpig> the phone should ring here in the next 5 minutes and I'm going to be extremely depressed when it does 10:01 < aestetix> ahh ok. I didn't read the scrollback, sorry 10:01 < Evilpig> it'll be the automated call from the school that sabrina is absent again. today marks 5 days and she's officially truant 10:02 < aestetix> where is she? 10:02 <@Dolemite> aestetix: Pig has as much hair as ever, but has lost a lot of weight. 10:02 <@Dolemite> aestetix: Don't ask since you haven't been keeping up. It's a sore subject. 10:02 < aestetix> ok 10:07 < Evilpig> no call, no response from the school social worker either. they may have unenrolled her. :-( fuck these people 10:09 < Evilpig> I just checked the school portal and her enrollment is listed as "ended" 10:09 <@Dolemite> ugh 10:09 <@Dolemite> well if you can get custody they might do something to reinstate her, knowing the circumstances 10:09 < Evilpig> gonna go throw up now 10:10 < Evilpig> shows she was dropped from all the classes on the 8th 10:40 < Evilpig> it would help my case if they were being more sloppy like their usual selves 10:42 <@Dolemite> You should have hax0red their phones better 11:21 <@Dagmar> So she was dropped from her classes before custody was transferred? 11:26 < Evilpig> yes 11:26 <@Dagmar> Another thing to tell your lawyer about 11:26 < Evilpig> so either ashley dropped her or krystal did without legal authority 11:27 < Evilpig> I have it written down in the list of things for them 11:27 <@Dagmar> My guess is Krystal did it 11:27 < Evilpig> I know ash called the school and left a voicemail saying that a transfer would be coming from vA 11:28 < Evilpig> but she wasn't in VA to sign anything so that would have to all be pushed from down there, as to where the legality of who can do what states that will be up the court. but from the way it works here the legal authority over the kid has to sign all the paperwork authorizing the secondary person to make any enrollment changes 11:33 <@Dagmar> Those asshats need to chill the fuck out on those pedo comments 11:33 < Evilpig> personally I think they need to step them up 11:33 < Evilpig> the more of those the more liable 11:35 < Evilpig> being able to stand before a judge and point out their court of public opinion that they've allowed to continue if not encourage with no evidence against the person that has helped her kid so much. it'd work in my favor 11:40 <@Dagmar> Well, it's not exactly legally actionable that they're trailer trash 11:40 <@Dagmar> ...but if they start talking that shit in a public space, I'd start sending copies of that to the lawyers 11:41 <@Dagmar> It's not like you can sue trailer trash for any sort of money 12:32 < Synx_> ugh, office on mac is HOT GARBAGE 12:33 <@Mirage> Tip in effective suing: Don't sue poor people. https://i.pinimg.com/736x/e6/16/50/e616507b5c4267664c4db48ec4bd1b2a.jpg 12:33 < PigBot> None (at i.pinimg.com) http://tinyurl.com/yrutm4hg 13:41 < Synx_> Evilpig, I've got a Plex question for you. I have Plex running in a container on Proxmox and am experiencing buffering when direct playing 4K remux videos to my Nvidia ShieldTv. I've run iperf3 tests from my media storage server to the proxmox host and can saturate gigabit, i've also done dd read tests to check the nfs mounts and again can saturate 13:41 < Synx_> gigabit. I've also throughput checked the wired link between the shieldtv and the plex container and again no slow down. I can find no reason why i should be experiencing buffering. Do you have any thoughts as to where I should look next for issue? 14:35 <@Mirage> How is it that it's supposed to be colder here than in Nashville? https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=33.19916000000006&lon=-96.61499999999995#.YO8EJ0BOmHs 14:35 < PigBot> National Weather Service (at forecast.weather.gov) http://tinyurl.com/y8j2btzv 14:40 <@Dagmar> Different places, different weather 14:40 <@Dagmar> Why is it that during the summer is typically hotter in Nashville than it is in fuckin Africa? 15:26 <@Dolemite> NLIT Abstract accepted. Looks like I'm headin' to Seattle in April. 15:32 <@Dagmar> Oh sweet jesus 15:32 <@Dagmar> It finally hit me what I should be remembering about the NIC vendor for this HVAC thing 15:33 <@Dagmar> I looked up the OUI it was Everex and I was like "That's something I haven't heard in a while" 15:33 <@Dagmar> ...and it's because anything made by them is like thirty fucking years old and is also shit. 15:34 <@Dagmar> The Amana tech I called at one point made sure to tell me the switch port must be in half-duplex mode and I thought he was just fuckin' aroudn 15:35 <@Dagmar> I kinda wonder now if a Flipper Zero would be able to control those out of the box or would we have to write something 19:50 <@Dagmar> A certain little kitty learned the hard way this afternoon not to sneak tastes of daddy's food 19:51 <@Dagmar> I had chips and Chuy's jalapeno dip and she kept eyeballing it so I moved it away from her 19:51 <@Dagmar> ...and when she thought I wasn't looking reached over and daintily licked the lid 19:51 <@Dagmar> ...and then suddenly there was a whole bunch of very urgent licking because daddy's food is BITEY 19:59 < Evilpig> Synx_: you sure it's doing direct play? what does the now playing show the bitrate at? is it reading accurately? my best guess would be that you've got a bottleneck with the container trying to connect to your storage and it has to stream it from the storage to your container then back out via the routes to your shield 20:00 < Evilpig> does it all show local IPs? is it trying to go over a slow link? is the shield wired or wireless? are you maybe seeing wireless spectrum congestion from too many devices/neighbors? 20:00 < Evilpig> Can you try forcing it to transcode to something smaller to see if it's a codec issue? 20:03 < Evilpig> on your proxmox is it running as lxc? priviledged or not? I've seen some weird issues with any network attached storage and lxc in general on there. I've had to convert almost all of my containers over to straight qemu images and all the weirdness related to the storage woes goes away. I tried doing the overlay and using an nfs source but that just didn't work at all for me. I guess i'd if it isn't a wireless issue, i'd spin plex up as a qemu image and see if you have the same issues. just build your VM and then copy the plex directory over and it should just work 20:07 -!- npcomp [~user@user/npcomp] has quit [Ping timeout: 245 seconds] 20:17 -!- npcomp [~user@user/npcomp] has joined #se2600 20:17 -!- mode/#se2600 [+o npcomp] by ChanServ --- Log closed Sat Jan 13 00:00:58 2024
