That's why the manufacturers would love to bypass them. 06:53 < Evilpig> the manufacturers are keeping the stealerships in place via policy though too 06:53 <@Dolemite> The laws protect the dealerships 06:54 <@Dolemite> The dealerships don't even have to carry all of the products from the manufacturer. 06:54 < Evilpig> Oooooo btw, I finally got the dude from palo alto to admit he's over his head 06:54 <@Dolemite> hahahaha, gg 06:54 < Evilpig> Please give me a chance to look over the RPM spec file. I'll respond back later with some questions section by section. In your previous update shared on JIRA, there was a section in the beginning with shared libraries that went over my head a bit. Once I'm good with everything I'll update and test and check it in. 11:07 -!- driz [~driz@linuxserver.io/driz] has quit [Server closed connection] 11:07 -!- driz [~driz@linuxserver.io/driz] has joined #se2600 11:46 <@Mirage> "Historic UAW strike begins" 11:47 <@Mirage> 46% pay increase! HAHHAHhahhahhAHhaha Fuck them, don't care. Cars are too f'n expensive already 11:55 <@Dolemite> yeah, that part is cray cray 11:56 <@Dolemite> we want to go down to a 4 day work week and get paid 46% more 11:56 <@Mirage> 32hr 4-day...not 4-10s. 13:18 < Evilpig> fuckin' ford man 13:19 < Evilpig> sends me an invoice for the work they just did on ashley's car. $2704.43 13:19 < Evilpig> sends me the online payment form: $4746.36 13:19 < Evilpig> I call up and ask "where's the other 2000 going" 13:21 < Evilpig> he starts reading off charges that aren't on this 13:21 < Evilpig> and he can't tell me where this invoice is from that they sent 13:22 <@Dolemite> Sent Patrick's gaming PC back to ASUS under warranty. They claim the only thing wrong with it is a big dent in the case, which didn't exist before we shipped it. So now I'm disputing the claim results since the GPU clearly wasn't working (we swapped it out with a spare and things were fine) and I bought the shipping through ASUS, so they have to handle the claim with FedEx. 13:28 <@jb7od> That's the worst. I've had to deal with fedex for where they clearly clobbered a >5' skid of desktops with a tow motor or something. It's hell getting them to admit it, but it worked out eventually (but only after everybody got their blood pressure all up..)/ 15:10 <@Mirage> Shipped a CRT monitor years ago that they first tried to claim wasn't packaged properly (had spray foam packing, so that was obviously BS), then they tried to claim it was broken before it was shipped. They did eventually pay me a couple months after I'd already sent mom a replacement. On the replacement she made the driver wait while she opened and inspected it. 15:38 <@jb7od> There was no playing this off- we had to delay all the other systems for sake of keeping everything like we found it, submittedd photo documentation &c. (because they tried to say it must've been shipped that way by IBM at first, in the pics you could tell the hit happened after they were wrapped and banded up, it was on us to prove it) 15:39 <@jb7od> (because we were the "or" scenario if they'd gotten lucky and we'd already broken down that pallate) 15:42 <@jb7od> I mean, that's a cultural thing. Guys must get in trouble over there for accidents or something-- owning up is not part of the claims process. 15:47 <@jb7od> That's like how if you fast track a problem to IBM India to 3rd level, they'll fix whatever before 1st can do a ticket and then say there wasn't a problem (AiM was the messenger of choice for this kind of global fraud too) 15:49 <@jb7od> guess discord ate that marketshare some time ago. 16:41 <@Mirage> "Drew Barrymore ‘deeply apologizes’ to the Writers Guild of America in an emotional video" 16:42 <@Mirage> Not sure what she's apologizing for since I have no intention of watching/reading the article...but I hope something about her mediocre acting is part of it. 18:05 < aestetix> Probably for a microaggression she made in 1992 18:22 -!- ShellGh01t [~feihung@gateway/tor-sasl/shellgh0st] has joined #se2600 18:26 -!- ShellGh0st [~feihung@gateway/tor-sasl/shellgh0st] has quit [Ping timeout: 246 seconds] 18:54 <@Dagmar> Wow we've got a new way to shut GOP members up for sure now 18:54 <@Dagmar> Apaprently before she was kicked out of Beetlejuice the musical--and this is actually pretty damn visible in the theaters security cameras--her (we hope) husband was full on pulling one of her boobies out and playing with it, and she was apparently groping his croth 18:55 <@Dagmar> That is grounds for _disqualifying her from office_ in her state 18:57 <@Dagmar> ...and I thought we were all clear that ASUS RMA support is managed by an outsourcing firm who only employs the most precocious of chimpanzees. 21:20 < Evilpig> the only thing we are all clear on is you do not need any qualifications to be a programmer at Palo Alto 21:21 < Evilpig> That dude claimed he had inherited this project and was struggling. He's in the change notes for the RPM from 2019 til now. that's a hell of an inheritance --- Log closed Sat Sep 16 00:00:17 2023
