18:18 < Evilpig> that can happen.  I just swapped one of the drives from my raid1 array and the system wouldn't boot.  grub popped up, no boot menu, dracut started then it said it couldn't find the volume group.  
18:19 < Evilpig> figured maybe grub did something goofy during install and didn't get onto the drive I had left in the pair, swapped them and same issue.  had to put both drives back in for it to boot.  not sure what's up with that, but I did a live swap on the one I suspect was bad, partitioned, hit it with grub install just to be sure and the array is rebuilding now
18:20 < Evilpig> the boot array finished super fast, of course, the data array says it has 45 minutes left then i'll go reboot,  power off again, disconnect the old drive, power up and make sure it boots with jus thte ssd.  then i'll swap the last drive
