They did a great job of adapting the comic. Nothing like with Sandman, but really good. 07:21 <@Dolemite> I was in a crazy mood yesterday and actually poked the bear on the comment threads of right wingers that kept calling the raid of Mar-A-Lago an outrage. 07:29 < aestetix> I mean 07:29 < aestetix> I do like showing that even the president is not above the law 07:29 < aestetix> There needs to be more of that 07:30 < aestetix> .... which you'd think the right wing would want 07:30 <@Dolemite> Everything is to tribal these days 08:05 <@Dagmar> Odd how suddenly they don't seem to care about the handling of classified documents 08:06 <@Dagmar> I mean, these are basically the same people who turned "Lock Her Up" into a chant over fuckin' emails 08:06 <@Dagmar> They're lying, hypocritical, fascist fucking trash. 09:18 <@Dolemite> Buttery Mails! 09:27 <@Mirage> Finally caught the India team before scope creep occurred for a change. "How do we make a systemd startup for the customers activemq on this NFS mount?" 09:29 <@Mirage> Me: "You don't. That is not an OS service, it is an added application. We only support the OS. They need to come up with their own startup script. Once in place our only responsibility is making sure it's enabled if they submit a ticket requesting that it is." 09:34 < Evilpig_> we don't even enable them. we give them rights to do it 09:34 < Evilpig_> https://capture.dropbox.com/3ePf8YYHaluoDpcB 09:34 < PigBot> Dropbox Capture (at capture.dropbox.com) https://tinyurl.com/2q8v4zf8 09:36 <@Mirage> That would be my opinion as well, but the Emerson Unix guys don't like giving sudo rights to users for services, etc. 09:36 < Evilpig_> we templated them so those are the rights they get 09:37 < Evilpig_> you should be able to make a solid argument for that style 09:37 <@Dolemite> I like it 09:38 <@Mirage> They have a master sudoers file that they maintain and sync out. 09:39 < Evilpig_> stuff like cat, show, status don't need sudo but we left them in there to give some of the more clueless users ideas of commands they can use 09:39 <@Mirage> They don't want us giving any specific one-off sudo rights to anyone as it makes it much more difficult for their auditing 09:40 < Evilpig_> I can see that. don't agree with it, but I understand it 09:40 <@Mirage> Emerson has their hands in a lot of cookie jars, so they fall under quite a few regulatory umbrellas 09:42 < Evilpig_> about time to start my openshift class again. I broke the teacher yesterday, curious to see what he has to say this morning 09:42 <@Mirage> We got pulled into an hour long meeting and a a ton of emails when they did an audit and found that a couple people had been assigned to the wrong GID wich gave them sudo on a bunch of servers instead of just their group of them. 09:43 < Evilpig_> doh. simple fat finger? 09:45 <@Mirage> They drive me crazy with this shit because they tell us that all sevurity stuff goes through governance before it comes to us, so "just get it done, as that's all that needs to be done when it gets assigned to yor group." But then someone submits a request to be added to a specific group on a system so that they get their sudo rights on it and we're supposed to somehow magically know that we need to 09:45 <@Mirage> verify that one request. 09:45 <@Mirage> It's all just a bunch of bullshit 09:48 < Evilpig_> I got paged last night when network security's IDS started blocking all egress traffic from all four DNS servers... 09:48 < Evilpig_> how's that for some bullshit? 09:49 <@Mirage> Typical. It was probably your fault too 09:49 <@Dolemite> Again!? 09:49 < Evilpig_> yeah again. third time 09:50 < Evilpig_> got an email from the head of netsec this morning saying he delegated a task to someone to exclude those from the IDS but it was done incorrectly and he was fixing it himself this morning 09:50 < Evilpig_> I said again to him, that this is a critical system we shouldn't be messing with period. 09:50 <@Dolemite> Trump pleads The Fifth Amendment in his NY deposition. 09:51 <@Dolemite> Because, you know, he has nothing to hide and has done nothing wrong. 09:51 < Evilpig_> but the 5th specifically says he refuses to answer to keep from incriminating himself. so he's guilty? 09:51 < Evilpig_> if you're guilty and you know it plead the 5th.... *sung to the tune of if you're happy and you know it* 09:52 <@Dolemite> You know, that's my hot take on the 5th. He's trying to keep from having to perjure himself. 09:56 <@Mirage> So they have a utility server we have access to and there's a script that we have rights to use which has options for adding user access to a system or set of systems via their 3rd party AD auth, place hosts in maintenance for patching, force a sync of the sudoers file and passwd, create a service account. The master passwd and sudoers files are maintained on this host and sync'd out to everything else. 10:01 <@Mirage> It's all a convoluted mess. So we get a ticket that either instructs us to add a user to a server, which is done via their MENU script, or added to a group on the server which has to be done manually by just hopping on the system and adding them to the group. AD groups being pertaining to that certain server get an entry added to the local groups file when the first person is given access, so that 10:01 <@Mirage> membership is just managed there by editing the file or using usermod. 10:10 <@Mirage> Wife keeps alternating between rewatching American Gods and The Sandman. Seems like she's flipped between them pretty much every time I walk through the front room 10:12 < Evilpig_> lol. i've been rewatching burn notice at night when I goto bed 10:24 < aestetix> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZsZN9afTLI 10:24 < PigBot> James Corden Pays The White House a Visit - #LateLateLondon - YouTube (at www.youtube.com) https://tinyurl.com/27z6r4bl 10:58 < Evilpig_> fuckin hell 10:58 < Evilpig_> ashley's car needed both front cv axles replaced and the carrier bearing. parts/labor $1099 11:55 <@Dolemite> BIG BAAADAH BOOM 11:55 <@Dolemite> Nothing like an early afternoon thunderstorm 14:15 <@Mirage> Send some of that our way 14:15 <@Dolemite> Would if I could. We've had so much the ground is oversaturated. 14:17 <@Mirage> It's so dry here that I can shoot the garden/flowerbeds w/ the "shower" setting and it soaks it up as fast as it hits 14:18 <@Mirage> cracks in the yard that you can stick your whole hand down into. 14:24 < Evilpig_> I think there are websites dedicated to that, they call it "fisting" ;) 14:25 <@Dolemite> I'm pretty sure I downloaded some vids of that from your server 14:44 < Evilpig_> I think I just heard it start coming down out there 15:25 <@Dolemite> Evilpig_: zip your pants up, your _ is sticking out 15:32 <@Mirage> Watching "Office Invasion" on Netflix and it's got some good funny bits in it so far 15:54 < Evilpig_> I noticed, I should fix that 15:54 -!- You're now known as Evilpig 15:54 < Evilpig> better? 19:51 <@Mirage> lol..
