06:54 < Evilpig> when my laptop wakes up and I start doing stuff, that transcode slows to beyond a crawl.  it's inching... single movie transcode time will spike up to 48hours+

06:56 < Evilpig> looking at the process monitor  virtualbox is taking 400% of cpu.. and nothing else is really that high.  the total is still just barely over 50%

07:34 <@Mirage> The chemistry dept had an apple compute cluster that they were having issues with until they figured out that w/o an active monitor attached the servers would disable the video card, which then killed their cuda.  Just slapping kvm modules on each of them resolved that.  Maybe it's something similar for your issue
