I didn't notice that one 08:47 < Evilpig> sitting here watching jurassic park right now and working on a spreadsheet where I keep asking myself "does this make the current process better?" "is it qualitative or quantitative and by what degree?" I have yet to answer yes to the first question on any of these changes i'm being told to do 08:47 <@Dolemite> heh 08:48 <@Dolemite> Evilpig: Lightyear popped up this morning, Jurassic last night 08:50 < Evilpig> I have lightyear loading now. weird it didnt' start on its own 08:52 < Evilpig> lol at the indiana jones moment 08:52 <@Dolemite> Haven't watched either one, yet 08:52 < Evilpig> "forget the hat" 09:00 -!- guest88 [~guest88@38.104.1.114] has joined #se2600 09:00 -!- guest88 is now known as wsmith 09:02 < wsmith> *finally* found you guys. 09:02 < wsmith> Any update on PhreakNic this year? 09:02 < brimstone> time to hide agian 09:03 * wsmith was wondering why nobody was on freenode #se2600. I must have missed a message somewhere. 09:05 <@Mirage> wsmith: because freenode went all wacky and crazy when it changed hands 09:05 < wsmith> I vaguely remember somethign about that; I've been disconnected for too long! 09:05 < Evilpig> wacky doesn't even begin to describe what happened on the changeover there 09:06 <@Mirage> The channel did have an MOTD set telling ppl we moved and a couple of us maintained our presence there for a while to tell people to move over here..but that was a while back. 09:06 < brimstone> then freenode reset all of the services 09:06 < brimstone> all of the channels went unregistered 09:07 < brimstone> :+1: to "wacky doesn't even begin to describe" 09:11 < wsmith> Anyways, we're looking for someone to be our new ISO. We pay well and have good benefits and a reasonable workload (dream job; trust me). WFH, but Atlanta travel required 4x annually. Resumes to it@analyticsiq.com 09:13 <@Mirage> ISO? 09:13 < wsmith> Information Security Officer 09:16 <@Mirage> That's what I assumed, but you never know 09:23 <@Mirage> Really kicking myself for not having kept up on backups of my vCenter. The nested lab configuration on the vDS was a huge pain to get going in the first place. The main "prod" nets are nice and straight forward, for the most part. The ESXi hosts still have the old vDS showing w/ the different 'Port Group' names, but don't show the detailed configs for LACP, vlan, etc 09:25 <@Mirage> At least I'd already had one of the hosts powered off, so I have that one to work on w/o running the risk of completely breaking anything. 09:32 -!- wsmith [~guest88@38.104.1.114] has quit [Ping timeout: 252 seconds] 09:42 <@Mirage> Lol... "maybe you were right, we need to be honest with ourselves." 10:56 <@Mirage> This week's The Orville wasn't much longer than last week's, but it sure seemed a lot longer watching it...to me at least 10:59 <@Dolemite> It's because of the two different storylines, one of which seemed to come to a conclusion closer to the middle than the end 11:10 < Evilpig> gonna watch that over lunch I think 11:10 < Evilpig> just finished the dinosaur movie 11:13 < Evilpig> Mirage: looks like you have to opt-in to get your maker's christmas gift this year 11:13 < Evilpig> they just sent out an email and it appears to have crashed their server 11:32 <@Mirage> lol 11:35 < Evilpig> https://www.makersmark.com/ambassadors/sign-in 11:35 < PigBot> 502 12:36 -!- wsmith [~guest88@38.104.1.114] has quit [Ping timeout: 252 seconds] 12:44 <@Mirage> Evilpig: site's back up. 12:45 < Evilpig> hrmm looks like I gotta reset my password 12:46 < Evilpig> or their site is only partially back. heh 12:57 <@Mirage> I was able to log in and update for thw wife 13:00 < Evilpig> it's telling me it can't find me in their system. gonna go dig out my ambassador id 13:07 < Evilpig> that got me in 13:08 < Evilpig> I don't see an option here for the christmas thing though. 13:08 < Evilpig> https://capture.dropbox.com/wm62JIAIXzfPPJbP 13:08 < PigBot> Dropbox Capture (at capture.dropbox.com) https://tinyurl.com/24dh7ue9 13:08 < Evilpig> did you see something different? 13:36 -!- guest88 [~guest88@38.104.1.114] has joined #se2600 13:36 -!- guest88 is now known as wsmith 13:37 < wsmith> Probably a sore subject, but is there a phreaknic planned for this year? 13:37 <@Dolemite> I don't think any of the PN planners are on IRC anymore 13:37 < wsmith> Figures. 13:37 <@Dagmar> Yes they are 13:38 <@Dolemite> Well, that's why I said "think" 13:38 <@Dagmar> I think we're probably past the "fish or cut bait" point this year tho and we weren't getting answers from the hotel quick enough 13:39 <@Dagmar> Provided no nuclear war or airborne omega-monkey variants odds are real high 2023 will be on 13:41 <@Dagmar> wsmith: ...and it's not really a "sore" subject so much as it is that the pandemic made a clusterfuck out of everything 13:41 < wsmith> Indeed 13:41 < wsmith> Kids were asking. I have been stockpiling nerf guns for THREE YEARS 13:41 <@Dagmar> If Governor Lee weren't such a cocksucking assbag we would have been on for this year 13:43 <@Dagmar> Ya might wanna keep an eye out for _NSAKEY on the Nerf front 13:43 <@Dagmar> That dude has some doomsday-prepper level nerf shit 13:43 <@eryc> phreaknic sounds fun 13:43 < wsmith> It hurt. Laid everything out for the network guys, they'd jump in doing captures, checking switches, etc..then pull in some "fresh set of eyes" that would look at those also, then start in on "have you rebooted the server, is there a setting in ssh, what's the open socket limit 19:17 <@Mirage> on the box." 19:18 <@Mirage> Each time I shut them down immediately by pointing out that connections from within the same subnet do not have the issue, so it's something upstream. 19:19 <@Mirage> Really fun thing is that, of course, it's intermittent. Today during the call 2 of the 5 which have been problematic were working normally. In the morning when we reconvene I'm sure that will change. 20:35 <@Dagmar> Sounds like something has decided your ssh session is actually a naughty HTTPS tunnel 20:47 <@Mirage> what i norticed today, which is really strange, is that if you log in and `tail -f` a file it will periodically show updates in that file even though it's unresponsive to any input. 20:49 <@Dagmar> Someones flow-based policies are broken AF --- Log closed Fri Jul 15 00:00:52 2022
