Daughter has no more school this year. She got up this morning and made breakfast, which she just delivered to me downstairs. 06:34 <@Dolemite> Why is it that every picture of Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado) looks like it was taken 1/2 second before the money shot in an amateur porno? I don't think I've ever seen a picture of her with her mouth closed. 06:34 <@Dolemite> https://gizmodo.com/republicans-voted-against-baby-formula-who-pro-life-abo-1848961960/slides/3 06:34 < PigBot> 9 Republicans Who Voted Against Easier Access to Baby Formula (at gizmodo.com) https://tinyurl.com/y2695p87 07:06 < Evilpig> haha. the smell of subway is "what if bread could fart". john oliver cracks me up 08:43 <@Mirage> Had a bit of fun over the weekend. http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/fixurnissan/2011-12-22_173352_4x4_front_rotors.jpg 08:43 < PigBot> None (at ww2.justanswer.com) 08:47 <@Mirage> So, whoever worked on the front hubs last apparently didn't use any thread locker on the screw that holds the lock washer to the lock nut. At some point, the screw (which there should have been 2 of, but I only found 1) came out of the locking washer allowing the lock nut to work itself free. The culmination of this minor oversight hit me while heading up to my grandma's house for the weekend. 08:49 <@Mirage> Luckily the snap ring was sufficient to keep stuff in place well enough that the wheel sisn't completely come off, but when the wheel bearings unseated themselves it took pretty much no time for them to eat themselves. 08:50 <@Mirage> ^s/sisn't/didn't/ 08:52 <@Mirage> I was able to limp my way to the local nissan dealer (only a couple miles away) who laughed when I asked if they'd have the parts in stock. Took AAA 2.5hrs to show up to get me towed back to the house..134 miles away. 08:55 <@Dolemite> I had some similar fun, though not quite as "fun" as yours. Lock actuator on the passenger side sliding door siezed up. The driver's side is easy because you can get to the screw to remove it by taking off the panel. It's flipped on the passenger side. 08:56 <@Dolemite> So the only way to get it to unlock is to blindly stick your left hand inside the door panel, feel for the actuator lever, and brute force break it off (the actuator is plastic, the lock is metal) so that you can get the door open and remove the whole mechanism. 09:23 <@opticron> Mirage, well that's pretty terrible 09:50 <@Dolemite> Evilpig: Damn, you're right, Oliver was brutal on Subway 09:56 < Evilpig> Mirage: fuuuuuuuuu how bad was that tow bill? 10:20 <@Mirage> Evilpig: just under $200 10:20 <@Mirage> Luckily. 10:22 <@Mirage> First 100 miles where covered, additional was $5/mi 10:22 <@Mirage> ^s/where/were/ 10:22 <@Dolemite> Not too bad, considering 10:22 <@Mirage> I was expecting worse 10:22 <@Dolemite> Pamela has us bumped up to the platinum level on AAA so I think we're covered up to 250 miles 10:23 <@Dolemite> but I also have a household annual vacation insurance policy, which covers any trip > 100 miles from the house 10:25 <@Mirage> I rarely have to use it. Last time was like 5-6 years ago. I've thought about upgrading, but I'm not really sure that the cost is worth the benefit given how infrequently it's needed. 10:27 <@Mirage> Like full coverage insurance..I don't bother because all our cars are older and paid off. Just doesn't make sense to pay the costs vs the book value of the vehicles 10:28 <@Dolemite> yeah, the book value on my van makes it silly to pay for full coverage on it 10:40 < Evilpig> lol. my insurance company won't offer me full coverage on the truck 10:41 < Evilpig> last time I brought it up she flat out told me the book value on the truck is below the deductible amount. even though I think I could easily sell the truck for $4k 10:41 < Evilpig> they claim the book value is below $500 10:41 <@Dolemite> Yeah, a working minivan would likely sell for that much, but on paper it's less than $1500. 10:41 < Evilpig> whatever. it's a 25yr old truck 10:42 <@Dolemite> 15 year old minivan with 250K miles on it. They don't care that you can have a 50K mile vehicle in worse shape simply due to lack of maintenance vs. good maintenance. 11:05 <@Dagmar> I just know I have liability and if someone hits my car and their insurance company tries to write it off by declaring it cost-ineffective to repair instead of junking it, we're going to court 11:29 <@Dolemite> It's funny that all the so-called "Conservatives" on my FB feed are up in arms about the Government "letting" so many chips to be outsourced to China and for there to only be one baby formula factory (for hypoallergenic, at least) in the US. Nothing is more fun than trolling them with, "So, uh, sounds like you want the State to control the means of production, right?" 13:06 <@Mirage> I don't even waste my time with them anymore...mostly pointless and not worth the drama/trouble 13:18 <@Mirage> Ugh, per the chick in this "Confidentiality and Information Security" training class it had to be done every 6 months. So f'n stupid given that we're contracted for virtual cloud infrastructure support of the systems that run their camera systems. We don't have a contract for the OS or anything else...just in the infra. 13:19 <@Mirage> And, of course, we're 100% remote so we'll NEVER be exposed to any IRS/financial anything. 13:36 <@Mirage> New restraunt opened locally..not quite sure what to think: https://www.instagram.com/roll_on_in/ 13:36 < PigBot> Roll On In (@roll_on_in) • Instagram photos and videos (at www.instagram.com) https://tinyurl.com/y2yt6ofh 13:40 <@Mirage> Huh, looks like there's one in Sevierville 13:44 <@Dolemite> Asian Fusion with Tex-Mex? Uhhhhh... totally sketch 13:54 <@Mirage> Yeah, my thoughts exactly 13:54 <@Mirage> https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-10844895/NASA-warns-deadly-SHARKCANO-mutant-sharks-live-acidic-undersea-crater-erupting.html 13:54 < PigBot> NASA captures eruption of 'Sharkcano' Kavachi where mutant sharks live in acidic underwater crater | Daily Mail Online (at www.dailymail.co.uk) 13:54 <@Mirage> Will this be the next Sharknado? 14:46 < Evilpig> https://rollonin.com/menu/ 14:46 < PigBot> Menu (at rollonin.com) https://tinyurl.com/yyntansc 14:47 < Evilpig> their menu doesn't look horrible but that description of texmex asian fusion sounds horrible 18:19 <@Dagmar> Well, I wound up telling the wanker who was insisting that I should use the TCP model "because that's the model you're actually using" that he was probably one of those people who blames everything on DNS 18:19 <@Dagmar> ...because fuck him. 18:19 <@Dagmar> I was nice. I explained my reasons for not liking the shortbus model, and he wanted to double-down on bullshittery --- Log closed Tue May 24 00:00:29 2022
