All of the "disks" are virtual, of course, and provisioned from the same SAN and spead out across 4 different virtual SCSI controllers.  They *claim* that they get better performance this way.  I can't wrap my head around how it really makes any difference at all because it's all the same virtual storage regardless of how you carve
