All their legacy stuff has VMware components and hosts set to 9000 mtu. The switches they have all support up to 9216 to handle the overhead. In the environment we built for them the upstream routing/switching from the ESXi hosts goes through NSX switches which only support 9000, so the max, but of course is already encapsulated before that for NSX geneve 12:28 <@Mirage_> packets, so the virtual machines can't technocally have a higher MTU than 8852. Causes all sorts of weird connection issues. 13:53 < brimstone> J U M B O F R A M E S 14:07 < Evilpig> Mirage_: I might have one better. Our virtualization/windows/collaboration team, because they're all one thing, deployed at least two ubuntu servers for customers to the point where they not only provisioned the machine, but installed the OS, configured the networking, and got them connected to AD for authentication 16:32 <@Mirage_> UPS fail...2 pkgs to be delivered, one actually delivered, both marked as delivered, 16:33 <@Mirage_> Checked neighbor's houses, not there 17:02 < Evilpig> sucky 17:45 <@Mirage_> lol..and it showed up later from an amazon driver?!?!? 17:46 <@Mirage_> Of course the Amazon guy dropped off 2 pkgs, one of which isn't ours. 18:13 < Evilpig> so now you can either do the right thing, or tell us what freebie you just got 18:32 <@Mirage_> Just got back from taking it to the right address 18:38 < Evilpig> woOoOo the new season of the expanse has started. 20:56 -!- NwordJim [~NwordJim@068-190-019-202.res.spectrum.com] has joined #se2600 21:05 < NwordJim> just wondering are any of you guys familiar with okta? I'm being asked to help with okta integrations via terraform since I have some experience with terraform, but I think for something like this config management would be better, anyone ever used puppet/ansible/terraform with okta and had any positive/negative experiences? 21:17 < Evilpig> never heard of okta, familiar with ansible, got irritated by terraform 21:20 <@eryc> okta is oidc/saml as a service 21:21 <@eryc> worth the initial offering but you still have to manage aws iam 21:41 < NwordJim> yeah I think its because they have stuff on multiplatforms is why they're using okta 21:42 < NwordJim> basically a friend of mine wants me to interview with his company as who can put all their okta configuration in terraform, but I dont know if thats the best tool for the job, they may have just randomly chosen that because thats what they've heard of 21:48 <@Dagmar> Aha! Now I know why Granpa Creepy (Cronenberg) was present in this episode 21:49 <@Dagmar> Evlipig: I thought it wasn't supposed to start until tomorrow 21:50 <@Dagmar> Doh. A fatality. Maybe not. --- Log closed Fri Dec 10 00:00:10 2021
