We enjoyed it, but it was definitely slanted more to her age group - as expected. 04:47 <@Dolemite> I'm also watching the Apple series, "Home Before Dark" with her, which is like a slightly younger Nancy Drew. 04:49 <@Dolemite> And I'll admit that the main draw is having something to watch with my daughter more than the show itself. She's been sucked into Pamela's black hole of reruns of shows they've already seen before (ad nauseum) - Big Bang Theory, The Nanny, Young Sheldon. Lather, Rinse, Repeat. 05:00 * aestetix hugs Dolemite 05:25 <@Dolemite> Well, definitly no surprise that Ted Lasso pretty much swept The Emmy in every category it was in 07:27 < Evilpig> this latest episode with beard was damn good 07:29 < Evilpig> Dolemite: I've got a couple of shows I only watch when the kids are around. stargirl, owl house, The Mysterious Benedict Society 07:33 <@Dolemite> Yeah, I'm the only one watching Stargirl, though. Not sure if that will continue. I gave the first season a go, but not sure how well this new season will be. I'm 2 episodes in. 07:42 <@Mirage_> I don't like this season as well as the first 07:42 <@Mirage_> But I've only watched the first 3 so far 07:44 < Evilpig> it's a shame they canceled infinity train. that one was fun with them too 07:47 < Evilpig> Dolemite: did you ever check out Secrets of Sulphur Springs ? 07:52 <@Mirage_> I really liked that one. Suggested it to my brother when they were here for the kids to watch and he said he'd already watched it with them and really liked it. 07:54 < Evilpig> I've been debating on starting american horror story or waiting for it to finish and doing it all in one go 07:54 < Evilpig> just the current season that is 07:55 < Evilpig> the fantasy island remake hasn't been horrible, but not a kid show 07:57 <@Mirage_> I wasn't too thrilled with the first couple episodes of new Fantasy Island. 08:09 <@Dolemite> Evilpig: Never heard of the Sulphur Springs one 08:09 <@Dolemite> Of course, my son doesn't want to watch anything with any of us. We're not cool like his friends. 08:12 < Evilpig> Dolemite: Ask him if he wants to watch "High School DxD" with you. lol 08:13 < Evilpig> it should be good for some embarassment 08:23 <@Dolemite> Heh, reference to Friday in this week's Rez Dogs 08:24 <@Mirage_> VMware is screwing the pooch as far as customer communication/coordination goes for the work they've been contracted to complete. They are handling migrations from the legacy environment(s) into the new environment. As part of their process they create stub machines and pre-config the networks, VM hardware, etc then sync the vmdk's during the final migration/cutover. 08:24 < Evilpig> I'm watching the new fantasy island. They've got leslie jordan guest starring this week 08:25 <@Mirage_> When problems are found, such as the backend VLAN not having been trunked in, then the VM(s) in question get pushed to another migration event to give time to get the network plumbed in. 08:27 <@Mirage_> The problem is that the stub machine is still there and the backup team isn't getting notified that they were moved to a different wave and aren't eligible for backups yet. The backup team then opens a case with us because the VM's are failing disk consolidation and backups. 08:43 <@xray> US govt sites showing porn, viagra ads share a common software vendor 08:43 <@xray> https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/us-govt-sites-showing-porn-viagra-ads-share-a-common-software-vendor/ 08:44 < PigBot> US govt sites showing porn, viagra ads share a common software vendor (at www.bleepingcomputer.com) https://tinyurl.com/ydvgwzqa 08:54 <@Dolemite> https://www.wvlt.tv/2021/09/20/couple-asked-leave-texas-bar-violating-no-mask-policy/ 08:54 < PigBot> Couple asked to leave Texas bar for violating ‘no mask’ policy (at www.wvlt.tv) https://tinyurl.com/yzpegabk 09:16 <@Mirage_> Doesn't suprise me i the least. Shit like that cropped up when mask mandates were in place and the bars hadn't been closed yet. 09:28 < Evilpig> Dolemite: that wasn't a refernce to friday. it was clearly "saturday" 09:36 <@Mirage_> xray: That reminds me of Digital Dog in Nashville who'd done several departmental sites for VU. Except for a couple of them, they still had the default admin user/password (digdog/digdog) set and had been "hacked" with all sorts of injection/fake ads, etc. 09:48 <@Mirage_> https://youtu.be/Xw-1C8DsufE 09:49 < PigBot> William Shatner Reviews Impressions of Himself | Vanity Fair - YouTube (at youtu.be) https://tinyurl.com/yz34qur6 11:38 <@Mirage_> blah. "This is an adaptation of the Dune novel from 1965, and it covers about half the book." 11:40 <@Mirage_> I don't recall having seen anything until reading a review about it stating that it only covered ~ half the book. 11:44 <@Dolemite> I'm pretty sure Gizmodo has mentioned it during their coverage while it was being filmed 13:10 <@Mirage_> Heh, supposedly Matthew McConaughey is "entertaining the idea" of running for govenor next year. 13:17 < Evilpig> Mirage_: shatner couldn't say anything bad about bruce campbell. that was funny 13:47 <@eryc> https://i.redd.it/qsupzii72no71.png 13:48 < PigBot> None (at i.redd.it) https://tinyurl.com/yh7rr26s 13:50 <@Dolemite> eryc: Um... 13:50 <@Dolemite> I'll pass 16:03 < Evilpig> that could be my housekeeper 16:29 -!- frsilent [frsilent@2600:3c00::f03c:92ff:fea5:168c] has joined #se2600 16:39 -!- frsilent [frsilent@2600:3c00::f03c:92ff:fea5:168c] has quit [Changing host] 16:39 -!- frsilent [frsilent@user/frsilent] has joined #se2600 16:55 <@Dagmar> Random routing flaps are just awesome aren't they? 16:58 <@eryc> https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/peter-thiel-silicon-valley-contrarian-max-chafkin.html 16:58 < PigBot> Peter Thiel and Silicon Valley’s Pursuit of Power: Excerpt (at nymag.com) https://tinyurl.com/yzx9dnc7 17:23 <@Dagmar> Digital Dog were such a bunch of fuckups 17:24 <@eryc> https://imgur.com/gallery/UmtR3 17:24 < PigBot> Just making sure you guys don't forget this epic underboob in the pilot episode of Star Trek: Deep Space 9 - Album on Imgur (at imgur.com) https://tinyurl.com/yjcvjclx 20:42 < Evilpig> It isn't often that our security drones step up and surprise me but they managed to do it today 20:43 < Evilpig> We got a request from an internal customer that they wanted root to run some install script. we don't do that. we dug into what this script was wanting to do and it was touching all kinds of things our management interface would not be happy about 20:44 < Evilpig> it also installed postgresql. specifically postgresql 10.3 20:44 < Evilpig> https://www.postgresql.org/support/security/10/ 20:44 < PigBot> PostgreSQL: Security Information (at www.postgresql.org) https://tinyurl.com/yddhcr5w 20:44 < Evilpig> We questioned this and asked if instead we could install postgres 10.18 from red hat software collections. nope. has to be 10.3 20:45 < Evilpig> my boss took a step back and handed it to our director along with that link right there of all the things patched in v10 since 10.3 and then it went back to the planning board 20:46 < Evilpig> this application was approved, conditionally, to be installed in our colo environment and the vendor agreed to a monthly patching cycle to which they are now saying they won't patch postgres past 10.3. They're about to lose their contract and possibly get hit with some other legal actions to recoup the time lost from all involved on our end --- Log closed Tue Sep 21 00:00:47 2021
