We probably talked for about an hr. They're going to be ~30-35 miles from me the week after labor day. Rented a cabin on Grapevine Lake. 08:28 <@Dolemite> Nice 08:28 <@Dolemite> Yeah, Pamela had to go back to him after lunch. Compressor for AC went out. 08:28 <@Dolemite> So he's got the car in pieces at the moment 08:30 <@Mirage_> Also, apparently either my pad or bed has a high spot on it in the middle/back where it's .12 mm off from the rest of the bed. Per the readings from the BLtouch 7 of the 9 reference points only have a .08 mm variance. 08:30 <@Dolemite> Yeah I didn't get the Pro, so I have to level the print bed on my own 08:31 <@Mirage_> It dodn't come with the BLtouch, I added it. 08:31 <@Mirage_> Does yours have the 8bit or 32bit board? 08:33 <@Dolemite> Not sure 08:34 <@Dolemite> Mine's just an Ender 3, and at this point about 1 year old 08:42 <@Mirage_> The 32-bit board actually has a header specifically for the BLtouch. There's not really a lot of documentation about it and I only found that tidbit on accident while trying to figure out why it wasn't working using the daughterboard that came with it. Since I got the one with the original wiring I had to pull the pins from the 3-pin plug and plug them into the header in the right spots, then instead of 08:42 <@Mirage_> using the z-axis stop sensor part of that header, just unplugged the normal one and plugged it in that spot. There's an option you need to set in the configuration.h for Marlin when you compile it to tell it which header you plug the z-axis sensor into. 09:20 <@Mirage_> Dolemite: Oh, and BTW, you still have to manually level the bed..it's not on servos or anything like that...the "Auto Bed Leveling" with the BLtouch just measures multiple points on the bed (depending on which method you choose when compiling the firmware) to verify/validate it is within tolerance. If during the check any point is out of spec the red light flashes and it stays at that point so you know 09:20 <@Mirage_> which to check manually. 09:20 <@Mirage_> I've been using a .2 mm feeler guage when setting it vs using a piece of paper. 11:33 <@Dagmar> Well. 11:33 <@Dagmar> It's somewhat annoying that I may have to buy another Pixel 3 because the NFC died. 11:34 <@Dagmar> UbreakIfix apparently charges $99 for a diagnostic, and i can buy a refurb for $200-220 12:30 <@jb7od> Why's this google spider rolling my telnets? Tyvm, f2b. >_< 12:31 <@jb7od> [17:20:21] Timeout/EOF ident connection 12:31 <@jb7od> [17:20:21] Lost telnet connection to telnet@scanner-07.ch1.censys-scanner.com/47122 12:31 <@jb7od> [17:20:25] Telnet connection: scanner-07.ch1.censys-scanner.com/47768 12:31 <@jb7od> [17:20:25] Timeout/EOF ident connection 12:31 <@jb7od> [17:20:41] Lost telnet connection to telnet@scanner-07.ch1.censys-scanner.com/47768 12:31 <@jb7od> 12:31 <@jb7od> Google owns that domain 12:32 <@jb7od> Ive got some old analtics code in the main web area, but dang yall. 12:33 <@jb7od> I miss the days when spiders and scanning were badguy things to do. Now that privacy is over, they're cool. 12:43 <@brimstone> that looks more like censys.io than google 12:45 <@jb7od> I'm just going by the whois 12:45 <@brimstone> that's what they want you to do 12:46 <@jb7od> sort of defeats the purpose. how do you get that registered? 12:47 <@jb7od> Ohhh I know who it was. 12:47 <@brimstone> Google probably gives away WHOIS privacy spoofing stuff for free 12:48 <@jb7od> nm, that's okay I guess, but I would have preferred some warning. 12:48 <@brimstone> do HACKERS give you warning? 12:48 <@jb7od> it's the hosting company looking for bots. 12:49 <@jb7od> which is good, they need to, we're all sick of being stuck on the dnsbls, but I'd have done some kind of notice to ignore scans or like how ircds do, etc. 12:50 <@jb7od> s/or/or something/ 12:51 <@jb7od> I'm sure the majority will remain unaware, but I'm in that 2% that watches. 12:52 <@jb7od> hope they were happy to get jailed 12:52 <@brimstone> 2% is pretty high 12:53 <@jb7od> idk, they're linux shells, so it's at least that sophisticated a crowd. 12:54 <@jb7od> if it was godaddy or somebody, sure, that's probably a few zeros behind the point, granted. ^__^ 13:27 <@Mirage_> To make like a little easier I got a 5.25" card reader to put in my PC for copying files to SD for printing. Wound up having to pull the pins out of it and putting them in the one that goes to the front panel USB2 plug because all my headers were taken thanks to 3 add-ons that all came with half-populated plugs. This MB only has 2 USB2 headers on it, the rest are USB3 13:29 <@Mirage_> There are 2 FRGB_x 4 pin headers that I'm willing to bet are actually USB themselves based on the USB plug from the water cooler that's pretty much just for driving the LED's on the head. 13:32 <@Mirage_> oops, JRGB_x. Close enough. 14:01 <@Dagmar> Thjose are not USB 14:02 <@Dagmar> They're also likely 12V so... if you wanna plug something expecting 5V into that, have fun man 14:03 <@Dagmar> If your motherboard appears to have slight obsession with colored LEDs they're going to be PWM power for said LEDs 14:03 <@Dagmar> i.e, you're basically expected to be plugging 5050 or similar LED strips straight into them 14:14 <@Dagmar> Audra's machine has them fully populated 14:14 <@Dagmar> Apparently, the Aurasync software comes wiht a Phison library that causes external drives to crash the machine. Bug fun. 14:14 <@Dagmar> er big fun. 14:15 <@Dagmar> We've got identical hardware nad I pretty much ignore the flashing lights, so I had finally uninstalled that software. Zero crashes. 14:15 <@Dagmar> Her machine would fail to return from sleep mode on the regular and occasionally seize entirely while she was using it 14:15 <@Dagmar> When they added a feature to control the RAM LEDs with the same software that created a conflict, so after some digging around we removed both the DLLs, and the problem completly stopped 14:19 <@Mirage_> Hrm, maybe not. Apparently the pins are 12v,5v Red, 5v Blue, 5v Green (apparently I didn't hit enter earlier, so this is a bit late) 14:28 <@Dagmar> Yeah that's just PWM voltage for making the lights come on 14:31 <@jb7od> This is either the most hilarious mistake or the funniest troll that hit #libera today: 14:31 <@jb7od> Is a non zombie creature equipped with Nim deathmantle considered a zombie when it is put into the graveyard? 14:32 <@Dagmar> MTG nerds 14:33 <@jb7od> Yeah, but it's a helluva WP 14:33 <@Dagmar> Hey at least they're not asking how many jews can fit into a toaster or some other brain damaged nonsense 14:34 <@Dagmar> ...and I just sent an email to root@nashville2600.org about us moving here 14:38 <@Dagmar> bewees: You're not going to have a lot of luck with hardware accelleration without actual hardware 14:54 <@jb7od> Dagmar, related to that openvpn route trouble from the other day, cisco easyvpn took a shit on all win systems throwing a dcom error about the 'invalid adapter', and also there's been some shit with vm installs (that also make fake adapters), and it's a little early to call, but I think theres a push against 'virtual drivers' pretty wide scope. Sure smells like it. 14:55 <@jb7od> scuzzi, 'virtual adapters' 14:59 <@jb7od> Now, that cisco ipsec vpn, even the apple one, used an old weak ikev1 that I couldn't believe either one still supported, but it's not limited to that. 15:06 <@Mirage_> Dolemite: what's the pliability of the PLA+ you use after printing? The stuff I got (before you sent me the email) is a lot softer than the "PLA Pro-3" I bought along with the printer, which is hard plastic when printed. 15:08 <@Mirage_> This SUNLU PLA+ might be perfect for making those mirror pieces for the Z, though. Marked for higher temps than the PLA but is more pliable like the original parts. Gonna print one and see if it's better than the hard plastic ones I already tried. 15:25 <@Mirage_> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTvS9lvRxZ8 15:26 <@PigBot> Backyard Squirrel Maze 2.0- The Walnut Heist - YouTube (at www.youtube.com) https://tinyurl.com/ydjqzzht 15:36 <@aestetix> so tired of seeing pride banners on all these corporations 15:37 <@aestetix> hopefully that goes away in a week 16:02 <@brimstone> since it's just superficial, it will 16:17 <@aestetix> brimstone: that's one of the things I find offensive about it 16:17 <@aestetix> it is, ironically, cultural appropriation 16:18 <@Dagmar> Oh hell... Hide your wallets. 16:18 <@Dagmar> The Steam Summer Sale has begun! 18:29 < xtort-> Nice timing, right when I shat my pants and need new pants :( 21:21 <@Dolemite> Mirage: Pliability depends on how many layers thick I make the walls, I'd say.
