Seems even more reasonable for it to do away with the network 07:45 <@Evilpig> ## If auditd is sending or recieving remote logging, copy this file to 07:45 <@Evilpig> ## /etc/systemd/system/auditd.service and comment out the first After and 07:45 <@Evilpig> ## uncomment the second so that network-online.target is part of After. 07:45 <@Evilpig> ## then comment the first Before and uncomment the second Before to remove 07:45 <@Evilpig> ## sysinit.target from "Before". 07:45 <@Evilpig> After=local-fs.target systemd-tmpfiles-setup.service 07:45 <@Evilpig> ##After=network-online.target local-fs.target systemd-tmpfiles-setup.service 07:45 <@eryc> maybe it needed to be network.target vs network.service or vice versa 07:46 <@Evilpig> no, an actual auditd listening server 07:47 <@eryc> that seems like a poor way to manage the difference if thats the official comments 07:47 <@Evilpig> those are in the official unit file. 07:48 <@eryc> seems like it should be two separate service units 07:48 <@eryc> with some sort of mutex 07:49 <@eryc> but anyway you followed the directions and it broke? 07:49 <@Evilpig> I don't have any proof this is the culprit, just a slimey feeling. if I can find a way to prove this, i'll open a ticket with redhat to beat poettering for starting this mess 07:49 <@eryc> seems highly suspect ya 07:49 <@eryc> especially since it has Before and After 07:50 <@eryc> i havent had coffee yet tho 07:51 <@Evilpig> https://gist.github.com/wilpig/a53e21bb80f38a39981bca4085ad9af3 07:51 < PigBot> auditd.service · GitHub (at gist.github.com) https://tinyurl.com/yya9fjyy 07:52 <@Evilpig> here's the full stock unit file for auditd 08:02 <@eryc> my custom services i only have After=network-online.target 08:02 <@eryc> i'm not sure why you'd ever need more than that 08:03 <@eryc> maybe the Before lets you capture shutdown audit events cleanly? 08:04 <@eryc> i'm betting the added After services haven't been kept up to date 08:05 <@eryc> maybe this will help https://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/systemd-analyze.html 08:05 < PigBot> systemd-analyze (at www.freedesktop.org) https://tinyurl.com/jofk9hl 08:05 <@Dagmar> Yes that's what you need 08:05 <@Dagmar> _More_ systemd 08:06 <@Evilpig> I've hit it with analyze already a few different ways and it's not showing a smoking gun 08:08 <@eryc> i vote cyan 08:08 <@eryc> very sus 08:11 <@eryc> Evilpig: was this a random event or reproducible? 08:18 <@Evilpig> randomish 08:19 <@Evilpig> we started noticing it this last week when we started monthly patching that a couple of hosts didn't start their network on boot. there's been a bit of esx reconfiguration going on so we figured maybe they farked something up somehow. after digging deeper this morning when one of my test instances didn't start the network I came across that message for the process being removed. 08:41 <@eryc> https://www.shopdisney.com/the-child-with-egg-canister-funko-pop-vinyl-bobble-head-star-wars-the-mandalorian-pre-order-889698509626.html 08:41 < PigBot> The Child with Egg Canister Funko Pop! I should get her one 09:21 <@Dolemite> Yeah, I've been surprised at how many prudes have been so turned off by that episode because of the egg eating 09:21 <@Dolemite> I'm like, "Do you eat omelets? She's carry the container all the time. 09:30 <@Dolemite> https://boingboing.net/2020/11/10/texas-televangelist-who-falsely-linked-pandemic-to-premarital-sex-dies-of-covid-19.html 09:30 < PigBot> Texas televangelist who falsely linked pandemic to premarital sex dies of COVID-19 | Boing Boing (at boingboing.net) https://tinyurl.com/yyrnfr2p 09:30 <@Dolemite> LOLOLOLOLOLOL 09:30 <@Dolemite> I guess he did some fornications 09:51 <@opticron> Dolemite, I was rooting for Chewy to eat the fucking porgs 09:51 <@Dolemite> I'm surprised Luke didn't roast one up over a spit 09:51 <@opticron> I look forward to watching this episode 10:50 <@eryc> https://futurism.com/scientists-drive-tiny-robot-around-inside-living-butthole 10:50 < PigBot> Scientists Drive Tiny Robot Around Inside Living Butthole (at futurism.com) https://tinyurl.com/y3v69fow 11:11 -!- lastchild [~lastchild@c-67-187-104-215.hsd1.tn.comcast.net] has quit [Ping timeout: 256 seconds] 11:41 < strages> I've seen this episode of Rick and Morty 12:38 -!- lastchild [~lastchild@c-67-187-104-215.hsd1.tn.comcast.net] has joined #se2600 12:38 -!- mode/#se2600 [+o lastchild] by ChanServ 13:11 -!- rpifan_ [~rpifan@p200300d2671e8c009282c3b1d162e5c3.dip0.t-ipconnect.de] has joined #se2600 13:13 -!- rpifan_ is now known as rpifann 13:13 -!- rpifan [~rpifan@p200300d2671b3600da61c5945b9a9498.dip0.t-ipconnect.de] has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds] 13:36 <@eryc> https://www.theverge.com/2020/11/10/21559677/tiktok-cfius-court-petition-ban-deadline 13:36 < PigBot> TikTok says the Trump administration has forgotten about trying to ban it, would like to know what’s up - The Verge (at www.theverge.com) https://tinyurl.com/yxfovkux 14:55 -!- crashcartpro [uid29931@gateway/web/irccloud.com/x-wpwpyrdslguclokg] has joined #se2600 15:06 <@Mirage> not sure if I mentioned it before, but google-authenticator available via yum on CentOS feels like cheating in comparison to the oathtool qrencode crap that I had to go through to get totp working a few years ago.
