That's pretty much the long and short of it 11:11 <@Evilpig> they also told me that the index length bug I filed they've corrected in the next release and told me if I manage to exhaust that again they aren't even going to consider looking at the ticket and they are just going to quit 12:21 <@Dagmar> hehe 12:31 -!- K`Tetch [~no@47.39.211.239] has joined #se2600 12:31 -!- K`Tetch [~no@47.39.211.239] has quit [Changing host] 12:31 -!- K`Tetch [~no@unaffiliated/ktetch] has joined #se2600 12:35 -!- K`Tetch_ [~no@unaffiliated/ktetch] has quit [Ping timeout: 258 seconds] 13:10 -!- K`Tetch_ [~no@47.39.211.239] has joined #se2600 13:10 -!- K`Tetch_ [~no@47.39.211.239] has quit [Changing host] 13:10 -!- K`Tetch_ [~no@unaffiliated/ktetch] has joined #se2600 13:11 -!- K`Tetch [~no@unaffiliated/ktetch] has quit [Ping timeout: 256 seconds] 13:32 -!- strages [uid11297@gateway/web/irccloud.com/x-gcjbdfeujsbpqart] has joined #se2600 14:02 -!- K`Tetch [~no@47.39.211.239] has joined #se2600 14:02 -!- K`Tetch [~no@47.39.211.239] has quit [Changing host] 14:02 -!- K`Tetch [~no@unaffiliated/ktetch] has joined #se2600 14:05 -!- K`Tetch_ [~no@unaffiliated/ktetch] has quit [Ping timeout: 255 seconds] 15:20 -!- Synx_hm [~Synx_hm@unaffiliated/synx-hm/x-1623004] has quit [Ping timeout: 258 seconds] 15:25 <@Evilpig> what kind of cutrate dipshit sells someone a new computer and the windows device manager has two unknown usb devices showing? 15:26 <@Evilpig> Unknown usb device (Link in compliance mode) 15:26 <@Evilpig> google is turning up jack on this other than it's a generic error. I've unplugged all the usb things on it, so it has to be system level something 15:28 <@Dagmar> Got the prod/vend ids? 15:28 <@Dagmar> ...although if this is AMD it's probably the goddamn CPU fan lights 15:29 < xray> It sounds like it is missing the motherboard chipset drivers or the USB chipset drivers. If you look at the device details it will have the USB device ID. That will let you find the manufacturer and the model number of the device. Check with the manufacturer for a driver. 15:32 <@Evilpig> https://www.dropbox.com/s/q6bg3tvda0k3ev9/Screenshot%202020-03-07%2015.32.49.png?dl=0 15:33 < PigBot> Dropbox - Screenshot 2020-03-07 15.32.49.png - Simplify your life (at www.dropbox.com) http://tinyurl.com/ur8glg8 15:33 <@Evilpig> it's looking like a bad header on the board maybe 15:33 <@Evilpig> It's a dell optiplex 7010 and I've nabbed and updated all the chipset stuff 15:34 <@Dagmar> You may very well be right about that since it looks like it's tied to those two ports 15:34 <@Evilpig> gonna tell him to contact the clown he got it from and get him to fix it 15:34 <@Evilpig> the front two usb ports aren't working right when I try to use them as well 15:36 <@Dagmar> Those are probably 5 & 6 15:36 <@Evilpig> that's my guess right now 15:36 <@Evilpig> could be a cable half on, or if it's a split connector he got the pins on the wrong order or something 15:37 <@Evilpig> could be a bad controller even 15:37 <@Evilpig> in any case, i'm not fucking with it anymore. I've done all the free service i'm doing for the day 15:37 < xray> In device manager you can right click on the device and click properties. 15:38 < xray> Select the details tab. 15:38 < xray> Under properties select hardware IDs. 15:38 < xray> The first entry will look like this ACPI\VEN_USB&DEV_C000 15:39 < xray> Sorry: Like this USB\VID_046D&PID_0809&REV_0010 15:39 < xray> The vendor ID is 046 and the device ID is 0809 15:40 < xray> You do a google search for the whole string and it should tell you what device it is. 15:50 -!- Synx_hm [~Synx_hm@unaffiliated/synx-hm/x-1623004] has joined #se2600 16:00 <@Dagmar> Well, 046D 16:00 -!- K`Tetch_ [~no@47.39.211.239] has joined #se2600 16:00 -!- K`Tetch_ [~no@47.39.211.239] has quit [Changing host] 16:00 -!- K`Tetch_ [~no@unaffiliated/ktetch] has joined #se2600 16:01 <@Dagmar> Hacksawing through metal == not fun 16:04 -!- K`Tetch [~no@unaffiliated/ktetch] has quit [Ping timeout: 265 seconds] 16:35 <@Mirage> Dagmar: depends on the metal and how dull the hacksaw blade is. 16:35 -!- K`Tetch [~no@47.39.211.239] has joined #se2600 16:35 -!- K`Tetch [~no@47.39.211.239] has quit [Changing host] 16:35 -!- K`Tetch [~no@unaffiliated/ktetch] has joined #se2600 16:37 <@Dagmar> Well, if it were pewter I'd just bite through it 16:39 <@Dagmar> Filezilla can do scp 16:39 <@Dagmar> #$@#$%@$ 16:39 -!- K`Tetch_ [~no@unaffiliated/ktetch] has quit [Ping timeout: 256 seconds] 17:02 <@Evilpig> xray: I did that it was garbage data 17:03 <@Evilpig> the vid came up as 000 and the pid was... 17:03 <@Evilpig> 0008 17:04 < xray> Nuts 17:04 <@Evilpig> I did flash the bios and stuff while I was there too since it was that intel bios that updates the usb firmware too 17:05 <@Mirage> Evilpig: on one of my dell laptops I had a similar issue and it wound up being USB3 drivers 17:05 < xray> That is a possibility 17:05 <@Evilpig> I tried to load those but it said the version I had on there was newer than the file from dell 17:06 <@Evilpig> I did't want to brick the thing in the middle of their work day. I might remote into it later tonight and poke some more 17:06 <@Evilpig> given that the front usb ports aren't working i'm inclined to think hardware problem unless the front usb ports were the only usb3 ports 17:07 < xray> Another useful tool for sleuthing out USB is USBDeview 17:07 < xray> https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html 17:07 < PigBot> View any installed/connected USB device on your system (at www.nirsoft.net) http://tinyurl.com/y8z4cgkt 17:07 <@Mirage> Mine wound up being the "Renesas USB3 Host Driver" 17:08 <@Evilpig> Mirage: i'll see if that's in that optiplex line. it's driving me nuts and the dude that owns it was like "well I have extra ports in the back so i'm good" 17:08 <@Mirage> I don't think it was listed on Dell's site for my model, but I found that in a forum and tried it out. 17:08 < xray> Another possibility is the fall sensor and any built in SD card reader 17:08 <@Evilpig> xray: I had just installed another nirsoft utility on that to set a program to max if it was minimized and they tried to run it again 17:09 < xray> Nirsoft has a lot of great utilites. 17:09 <@Evilpig> tasklist /FI "IMAGENAME eq atlantis.exe" 2>NUL | find /I /N "atlantis.exe">NUL 17:09 <@Evilpig> if "%ERRORLEVEL%"=="0" ( 17:09 <@Evilpig> nircmd win max process atlantis.exe 17:09 <@Evilpig> nircmd win show class Shell_TrayWnd 17:09 <@Evilpig> ) else ( 17:09 <@Evilpig> start "" "C:\v4\atlantis.lnk" 17:09 <@Evilpig> ) 17:09 <@Evilpig> made this little batch to replace the shortcut they were using 17:10 <@Evilpig> nircmd win max made the taskbar disappear when it ran though. feels like a bug so I was trying to force it to show but meh. if you minimize it showed right back up 17:18 < xray> very odd 17:18 < xray> If you find a bug Nir Sofer (the author) is very responsive to emails. 17:22 <@Evilpig> heh, I don't need any more bug reports right now. i've had my fill 20:30 <@Evilpig> xray: USB\VID_0000&PID_0008\5&10dc9a0c&0&5 20:30 <@Evilpig> it's fubar fo sho 20:47 <@Evilpig> I present to you all, the greatest video of all time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcHRlwUCmSo 20:47 < PigBot> Sir Mix-A-Lot setting up the new Torchmate 2x4 CNC (at www.youtube.com) http://tinyurl.com/rm5cd4b --- Log closed Sun Mar 08 00:00:00 2020
