Like VU for example masq'ing all the non-direct numbers to the outside main trunk line...or a hospital masq'ing all the patient rooms to the operator/switchboard

If you say "take me off your list" you're talking about THEIR list, not the federal one, and you're (technically) opting in to further calls. There were some hearings about it maybe 10-12 years ago (but no laws/regs were changed)
