Every vertical touchscreen I've found is rather expensive. 10:08 < aestetix> why can't you take a normal touch screen and turn it on its side? 10:09 <@Corydon76> Needs to run Windows 10:10 < aestetix> can windows not do that? 10:10 <@Corydon76> Traditional monitors don't reorient based upon gravity 10:10 < aestetix> yeah but can't windows have you change the orientation of the screen? 10:11 <@Corydon76> Haven't seen that feature, but I'm not a regular user of Windows, so I'm not sure 10:12 < aestetix> basically, wondering if windows has something like arandr 10:13 <@Corydon76> Apparently so: https://www.howtogeek.com/356816/how-to-rotate-your-pcs-screen-or-fix-a-sideways-screen/ 10:13 < PigBot> How to Rotate Your PC’s Screen (or Fix a Sideways Screen) (at www.howtogeek.com) http://tinyurl.com/yafjpf4r 10:13 <@Corydon76> Now I just need to find a stand for our touchscreen monitor that lets it stand on its side without tipping when a worker touches the screen. 10:13 <@oddball> yes. It's a basic feature that has been in Windows for... a while. 11:25 <@Evilpig> if my dell monitor was a touchscreen it would do it, the way the stand is made it's stable both horizontal or vertical 11:36 <@Mirage> Cats are so weird.. I've got an empty aquarium sitting on the floor while I repair the stand, so of course the cats are absolutely infatuated with it...moreso than any cardboard box. One after jumping in it started pawing at the glass like he was trying to figure out how to escape the strangely invisible box. 12:56 <@Mirage> developer is trying to convince me that x.x.x.x/64 is a valid network.. 12:59 < aestetix> it's a 64 bit network 12:59 <@Mirage> in an ipv4 space.. 13:00 < aestetix> yeah you need a 64 bit processor to run it 13:00 < aestetix> :) 13:05 <@Mirage> Maybe they're getting IPv4/6 mixed up. This is a dual stack environment. 13:05 <@Mirage> Wasn't a /64 what you have to work with when you did/do 6-to-4 translation from an IPv4 gateway? 13:06 * Mirage hasn't thought about IPv6 much since PN-X or PN0x0b. 13:13 -!- rpifan [~rpifan@p4FCA276B.dip0.t-ipconnect.de] has joined #se2600 13:22 -!- rpifan [~rpifan@p4FCA276B.dip0.t-ipconnect.de] has quit [Remote host closed the connection] 13:23 -!- rpifan [~rpifan@p200300D2672453129582A82FEDE36105.dip0.t-ipconnect.de] has joined #se2600 13:56 <@Mirage> holy... /64 being listed is wrong...those are supposed to be IPv6 subnets and the correct mask is /124, which is the same space as an IPv4 /28...16 IPs in the subnet. 13:59 <@Mirage> Geez.../64 == 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 addresses.. you have to get down to a /120 to get a "normal" class C (256 addresses) 14:06 < K`Tetch> 11:11:37 «@Corydon76» Haven't seen that feature, but I'm not a regular user of Windows, so I'm not sure - yes, uit can, it's very commona nd easy, it' in the moonitor settings. I used to run a 1024x768 monitor in portrait for document reading in win7 14:06 -!- PigBot [~PigBot@wilpig.org] has quit [Remote host closed the connection] 14:06 -!- PigBot [~PigBot@wilpig.org] has joined #se2600 14:07 <@Corydon76> K`Tetch: in this case, we have a full screen app but we need the on-screen keyboard not to cover all of it. 14:07 < K`Tetch> Evilpig - you got one of those twisty up-down stands, like the one apple wants to charge $1000 for from dell too? 14:07 <@Corydon76> Warehouse dust has been an issue with our existing keyboards wearing out quite quickly. 14:08 < K`Tetch> even with a full sealed membrane keybaord? 14:08 <@Mirage> the old lenovo ones i have from work will raise/lower and rotate 90 degrees on the stand that came with them 14:08 <@Corydon76> Has an integrated trackpad. 14:09 <@Corydon76> So, no, it's not sealed 14:09 <@oddball> I would think a mechanical keyboard with the old school keyboard condoms would be the way to go in that enviroment 14:09 < K`Tetch> ah 14:09 < K`Tetch> and iirc the windows on screen keybaord is small, and movable 14:10 <@Corydon76> Well, it's not small, but it's movable and closable 14:10 <@Corydon76> I pinned it to the taskbar, to make it quick to reopen 14:11 <@Corydon76> Part of the issue is that we're using thin clients, and the OSK has to run on the server 14:11 < K`Tetch> but anyway, in win10, tis' in display settings, right below resolution 14:11 <@Corydon76> The shortcut of Ctrl-Alt-Arrow is going to be helpful to set the right one. 14:12 <@Mirage> back in the mid-90's we had a wire extrusion plant that was a customer. Had to build custom filtered boxes to put all the computers and printers in as well as buying those water-resistant stickers to go on the keyboards to help with the dust. Still had to vaccuum all the computers/printers monthly and replace the keyboards avery 3-4 months. Mice were a nightmare because they didn't have laser mice yet at the time 14:14 <@Corydon76> Yeah, hence the thin clients with no fans. Last thing we need is to pull in *more* dust. 14:15 < K`Tetch> https://www.wetkeys.com/Soft-touch-Comfort-Silicone-Waterproof-Keyboard-p/kbwkfc106-bk.htm 14:15 < PigBot> "Soft-touch Comfort" Professional-grade Full-size Flexible Silicone Waterproof Keyboard (USB) (Black) | KBWKFC106-BK by WetKeys Washable and Waterproof Keyboards (at www.wetkeys.com) http://tinyurl.com/qqcw6fp 14:16 <@Mirage> Skydog had a couple of those he used to like showing off 14:17 <@Mirage> He liked them because he could just roll them up and stick them in his bag 14:20 < K`Tetch> also dust-proof until they tear 14:22 < K`Tetch> also probably pretty ahndy for insutrial use - you can basically glue them to whatever equipment you need, or a suitable mounting plate 15:06 <@Evilpig> K`Tetch: on my desk at work, yes 15:10 -!- rpifan [~rpifan@p200300D2672453129582A82FEDE36105.dip0.t-ipconnect.de] has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds] 15:10 -!- rpifan_ [~rpifan@p4FCA276B.dip0.t-ipconnect.de] has joined #se2600 15:11 -!- rpifan_ is now known as rpifan 15:15 <@Mirage> Anyone bother watching Doctor Who last night? 15:23 < rpifan> nop 16:02 <@Evilpig> it just played in the background.
