07:37 <@Corydon76> Probably because it's more accurate.  Deletion implies finality.  Expiration implies that it'll happen when they get around to it.
07:38 <@Corydon76> When you're dealing with a very large cloud, deletion isn't instantaneous.  It's scheduled, and it'll happen when it happens.
07:40 <@Corydon76> When you do an 'rm' in Unix, it happens more or less immediately.  When you tell AWS to remove something, they schedule a job that deletes the object.  You aren't really doing anything other than creating a job when you request an expiration.
