There are no comparative leftists in the American political system. 09:14 < aestetix> You mean there's no comparative party to say the UK Labour party? 09:14 <@Corydon76> They were pretty much driven out by the McCarthy era investigations of the 1950s. Nobody dares adopt such policies... not and win anyway 09:14 < K`Tetch> the labour party of the mid 90s until about 5 years ago was also center right 09:15 < K`Tetch> thats what 'new labour' meant 09:16 < aestetix> Ok. So the left in the mid 90s would be the Liberals? 09:16 < aestetix> Or something else 09:17 <@Corydon76> The Greens 09:17 < K`Tetch> the liberals, or hte lib-dems 09:17 < aestetix> ok 09:17 < K`Tetch> two different parties (and the leader of the UK liberal party has been a family friend since the mid-80s) 09:17 < aestetix> oh wow 09:18 < K`Tetch> in 88 the liberal party merged with the Social democrat party (who had worked together for ~5 years as the SDP/liberal alliance) to form the lib dems, but thre was a small core that didn't like the merger, so remained as the liberal party 09:19 <@Corydon76> K`Tetch: where do you put the Greens in relation to them? 09:19 < K`Tetch> they have 10 councillors, one of which was mine growing up (who also has the biggest margins of any on the liverpool council, by FAR) 09:19 < K`Tetch> the greens, like the pirates, are difficult to put on a strict left-right scale 09:20 < aestetix> are the greens in the UK like the grüns in germany? 09:20 < K`Tetch> mainly because their core is not economic based 09:20 < K`Tetch> i don't know much abotu the german greens 09:21 < K`Tetch> but its only int he last 10 years that they got their first ever MP seat 09:22 -!- dc0de [~jim@198.46.153.211] has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds] 09:28 <@Corydon76> https://stddonald.com/product/anti-trump-yard-sign-2020/ 09:28 < PigBot> Anti Trump Yard Sign 2020 | Anti Trump Lawn Sign | Liberal (at stddonald.com) http://tinyurl.com/y5dylg67 09:31 -!- dc0de [~jim@198.46.153.211] has joined #se2600 09:38 -!- dc0de1 [~jim@198.46.153.211] has joined #se2600 09:39 -!- dc0de [~jim@198.46.153.211] has quit [Disconnected by services] 09:39 -!- dc0de1 is now known as dc0de 09:40 < dc0de> g'mernin all. 09:52 -!- dc0de1 [~jim@198.46.153.211] has joined #se2600 09:54 -!- dc0de [~jim@198.46.153.211] has quit [Disconnected by services] 09:54 -!- dc0de1 is now known as dc0de 09:54 * dc0de taps the keyboard... wondering "is thing thing on??" 09:55 <@Corydon76> Morning 09:55 < dc0de> Corydon76: how are you doing? 09:55 <@Corydon76> Allergies suck. 09:55 < dc0de> I've seen bits and pieces... but I'm not much on Social Media anymore. 09:55 < dc0de> Sorry to hear that... 09:55 < dc0de> they do suck.... I think it's one of the better known services for doing that. 10:03 <@Corydon76> I've tried others in the past. They all work to some varying degree. 10:03 <@Corydon76> None are going to catch 100%, because the spammers are a moving target. 10:04 <@Corydon76> It is nice, though, of the carriers to provide additional intelligence. For example, if a call originates overseas but has a US number, it will often get tagged by the telco as Likely Scam. 10:06 <@Corydon76> Might help put a dent in the complaints, but I think the only thing that will really put a dent in the calls is if a rumor starts spreading that a vigilante is tracking down and killing scammers with a double-tap to the skull. 10:07 <@Corydon76> People regularly think they can evade the law, but they're far more scared of vigilantes. 10:08 < dc0de> What's funnier, is that t-mobile tried to intercept it, called it scam likely, and then offered the same service at $4/mo 10:09 <@Corydon76> Yeah, I'm on T-Mobile, as well. I try to avoid a number of their addon services like that, because I honestly think they should be doing that for free. 12:41 -!- K`Tetch [~no@unaffiliated/ktetch] has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds] 13:22 -!- dc0de1 [~jim@198.46.153.211] has joined #se2600 13:25 -!- dc0de [~jim@198.46.153.211] has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds] 14:01 -!- dc0de [~jim@198.46.153.211] has joined #se2600 14:04 -!- dc0de1 [~jim@198.46.153.211] has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds] 14:08 -!- dc0de1 [~jim@198.46.153.211] has joined #se2600 14:09 -!- dc0de2 [~jim@198.46.153.211] has joined #se2600 14:10 -!- dc0de [~jim@198.46.153.211] has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds] 14:12 -!- dc0de1 [~jim@198.46.153.211] has quit [Ping timeout: 276 seconds] 14:33 -!- rpifan_ is now known as rpifan 15:00 -!- xray [~xray@c-73-43-3-64.hsd1.ga.comcast.net] has quit [Ping timeout: 265 seconds] 15:36 -!- xray [~xray@c-73-43-3-64.hsd1.ga.comcast.net] has joined #se2600 16:24 -!- dc0de2 [~jim@198.46.153.211] has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds] 17:33 -!- dc0de [~jim@198.46.153.211] has joined #se2600 19:22 -!- K`Tetch [~no@47.39.211.239] has joined #se2600 19:22 -!- K`Tetch [~no@47.39.211.239] has quit [Changing host] 19:22 -!- K`Tetch [~no@unaffiliated/ktetch] has joined #se2600 20:48 < dasunt> I spent the last two days doing a tire change on a '93 Goldwing. My gawd, what a job. 20:48 < dasunt> Complete pain in the ass. 20:51 < dasunt> Step #1 - Remove about eight pieces of plastic. That'll take over an hour the first time you do it. 20:53 < rpifan> pieces of 8 20:54 < dasunt> Yep. 20:55 < dasunt> All different. The front should have been easier, but after mounting the new tire, the fender rubbed. Which means I spent an hour trying to figure out what I did wrong until I found out the old tire was slightly narrower, and part of the fender we didn't touch was assembled wrong, so we had to fix that. 21:23 <@opticron> yeah no, I'll take my 1960s jeep trucks any day 21:27 < dasunt> I like it, but I am glad my Goldwing is a lot older. 21:28 < dasunt> Way less plastic on the regular naked Goldwings. 21:33 -!- dc0de [~jim@198.46.153.211] has joined #se2600 21:58 -!- rpifan [~rpifan@p54AC5DD6.dip0.t-ipconnect.de] has quit [Ping timeout: 245 seconds] 22:36 -!- dc0de [~jim@198.46.153.211] has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds] 23:33 -!- dc0de [~jim@198.46.153.211] has joined #se2600 23:47 -!- dc0de [~jim@198.46.153.211] has quit [Ping timeout: 268 seconds] --- Log closed Thu Sep 26 00:00:38 2019
