It focuses on the processes, functions, and capabilities required to support IT services in business. 12:41 < aestetix> so they took IT and boldly coupled it with the letters I and L 12:42 <@Shadow404> basically, YES 12:49 <@opticron> I'm going to pretend it's a mashup of IT and TIL 12:50 <@opticron> ah, IL is infrastructure library 12:50 <@opticron> so prebuilt IT solutions you can vomit out on command 12:51 <@opticron> I wonder if they focus on atlassian stuff 13:20 <@Corydon76> opticron: according to the Wikipedia entry, it's not that at all. Rather, it's the equivalent of Six Sigma. 13:20 <@Corydon76> A process by which to keep services running. 13:21 <@Corydon76> Don't think about machines processes, but business methodologies applied to IT. 13:21 <@Shadow404> *yawn* 13:22 <@Shadow404> i get why a college degree covers it for an I.T. path, but sigh 13:22 <@Corydon76> I don't. It's a proprietary methodology. It's basically sale masquerading as education. 13:23 <@Corydon76> It's like a college course on how to use MS Office. It's a way to get you to buy a product, because you're familiar with it, not because it actually helps you get the job done. 13:23 <@Shadow404> so ive had to start searching for a new job as my company is moving offices which would increase my drive home by another hour, so long story short ive read tons of job descriptions so far and it seems like anything ITIL is a plus for lots of jobs im looking at. 13:24 <@Corydon76> (Which, MS Office may well help you get a job done, but that's not the point of the course.) 13:25 <@Shadow404> that was my associates degree, i think they called it Office Applications and it was all teh MS Office productws rolled up into one. Though i did take a pretty advanced excel scripting course that pulled out outside databases funneled into excel that was pretty neat for this bachelors degree 13:37 <@Mirage> in my experience ITIL's 2 main answers for everything are Documentation and Training. When in doubt, answer with one of those. Whatever you do, do not try to use logic or technical knowledge to answer any ITIL question 13:45 <@Shadow404> yep 13:46 <@Shadow404> realizing that 13:48 <@eryc> ttps://itpi.org/the-visible-ops-book-series/ 13:48 <@eryc> https://itpi.org/the-visible-ops-book-series/ 13:48 < PigBot> Visible Ops Books - (at itpi.org) http://tinyurl.com/y2eku9hd 13:49 <@eryc> that's all the ITIL you really need 13:51 <@eryc> for devops there's The Goal, The Phoenix Project, and It's Not Luck 13:51 <@eryc> SRE is the Google SRE Handbook 13:53 <@Mirage> why do some people on Ebay selling stuff have to be such idiots about mis-posting/describing what they are selling. So fucking annoying to search for shit for an '87 and have parts from 90's models that are NOWHERE NEAR the same and completely incompatible listed as being the year you want/need. 14:25 <@Corydon76> Mirage: probably because ebay won't punish them for that the way Amazon will. 14:26 <@Corydon76> If a customer misunderstands your listing, it is automatically the vendor's fault. 14:26 <@Corydon76> (on Amazon, anyway) 15:41 <@Mirage> yay.. https://communityimpact.com/dallas-fort-worth/frisco/transportation/2019/06/03/red-light-cameras-now-banned-in-frisco/ 15:41 < PigBot> Red-light cameras now banned in Texas, including camera in Frisco | Community Impact Newspaper (at communityimpact.com) http://tinyurl.com/yy8jz8vk 15:43 <@Mirage> the things wouldn't be so bad if they weren't normally paired with a yellow light that only lasts about half as long as normal and ticketing being triggered when/if the light changes while you are going through the intersection. 15:49 -!- crashcartpro [uid29931@gateway/web/irccloud.com/x-clxksxappahumdav] has joined #se2600 19:15 -!- dfused [~flajackun@c-71-197-193-151.hsd1.wa.comcast.net] has quit [Ping timeout: 272 seconds] 19:25 -!- dfused [~flajackun@c-71-197-193-151.hsd1.wa.comcast.net] has joined #se2600 21:18 -!- crashcartpro [uid29931@gateway/web/irccloud.com/x-clxksxappahumdav] has quit [Ping timeout: 248 seconds] 21:18 -!- crashcartpro [uid29931@gateway/web/irccloud.com/x-rwjmvhjjqdbwdjtn] has joined #se2600 22:40 -!- crashcartpro [uid29931@gateway/web/irccloud.com/x-rwjmvhjjqdbwdjtn] has quit [Quit: Connection closed for inactivity] --- Log closed Wed Jun 05 00:00:46 2019
