07:23 <@Corydon76> 3 is multiuser, maybe, 5 is GUI... or is 5 for a reboot?  Linux tossed out runlevels when it decided that a non-numerical run level was for single-user mode.

In their minds, they saved themselves $41 million... so what do they care.
